Equipment Case Styles

Airlines for America, formerly known as Airline Transport Association, Specification for Packaging of Airline Parts is the technical specification under which Jan-Al Cases builds.  They do not certify case manufacturers. 

ATA 300 Cat I

  • Rated for 100 trips and lasts for many more
  • No weight limitations
  • Most heavy duty packaging made
  • Meets rugged shipping conditions
  • Drop and vibration testing
  • Mil-Spec 810 Current Rev, meets or exceeds ATA 300 Category 1 Specification
  • Recessed steel hardware plated for corrosion resistance
  • Machine driven steel rivets & fasteners
  • Casters with & without brakes
  • Material handling such as forklift guides, skids, weldments, etc.
  • Laminated plywood (fiberglass, ABS, Rhinohyde) or otherwise treated for water resistance
  • Construction based on payload (.25, .37, .50)
  • Aluminum edging, positive tongue & groove valance (with & without gasket)
  • Custom foam application to spec
  • Interiors treated for temperature control

ATA LIGHT CASES

Rhino Light is built to the same standard as ATA cases but meets the need for lighter construction to minimize shipping costs. It is designed for lighter equipment and fewer trips, but still meets airline requirements. It is customized for the individual client’s requirements.

non recessed case

NON-RECESSED CASES

Non-recessed cases are built with non-recessed hardware and lighter construction to minimize costs.   It is designed primarily for shipping on company owned vehicles or for very few commercial shipments. It is generally constructed of lighter materials but can be made of anything as it is customized for the individual client’s requirements.

ATA 300 Cat II

  • Rated for 20 trips
  • Primarily company truck or very few commercial shipments
  • Surface mounted steel hardware plated for corrosion resistance
  • Machine driven steel rivets & fasteners
  • Casters with & without brakes
  • Laminated plywood (fiberglass, ABS, Rhinohyde)
  • Construction based on payload (.25, .37, .50 ply, .25, .37, .50 tri-wall plastic, .1875, .25 HDPE)
  • Aluminum edging, positive tongue & groove valance
  • Custom foam application as required
heavy duty shoebox style case

Rhino Tele

Rhino Tele is a shoebox construction with the lid telescoping over the bottom and held in place with straps and plastic slide buckles.  It is a low-cost option for light payloads that are used primarily with company trucking and minimal shipping. Constructed of light materials, it is customized for the individual client’s requirements.

  • Surface mounted, plated hardware as required
  • Light duty casters & skids (optional)

  • Construction based on payload (fibre, .25, .37 plywood, .25, 37 tri-wall plastic, .1875, .25 HDPE)
  • Custom foam application
